How to Make a Claim?
The freedom to select who their vehicle is repaired by is given to anyone who's been involved in a road accident. You have two options:1) either choose to claim on your own car insurance policy 2) or formulate a claim independently of your insurer.
If you do not have a membership with AA, the solution to it is you can call your insurer after an accident to talk about the options you have. However, if you are an AA member, the option to call us first can always be chosen by you, after which we’ll deal with everything, including communicating with insurers.
However, you also have the option to reach out to your insurer directly.
Making a claim to your insurance provider
The decision to claim directly through your insurer will require you to reach out to them to report the claim. The details you’ll be asked to provide them with will include details of the accident, your policy number, the registration number of the cars involved, name, address and phone number of the driver, details of the driver's insurance if you have the above-mentioned details available with you.
In case you decide not to claim:
In order to keep your no claims discount intact, if you don't have a 'protected no claims discount', or maybe you decide to fund the repairs yourself. The accident should be reported to your insurance company even if you don't want to claim yourself, and that too within an acceptable period of time, because if you don't, it could lead to the breakage of the terms and conditions of your insurance.

Dealing with crash-for-cash claimants
People who intentionally plan and arrange accidents in order to create a false insurance claim are called crash-for-cash claimants
This is done in the following ways:
• Before deliberately crashing into you, they flash their lights to give you an indication that you're free to go.
• They may brake suddenly and unexpectedly, causing you to move into the back of their car.
In order to prevent you from receiving a warning, they might also uninstall their brake light bulbs, so that when the brakes in front of you are hit by them, there will be high chances of you colliding into them.
Crash-for-cash claimants will usually put the accusation of the accident on you. and provide you with their insurance information, which, at times they already have written on a piece of paper. Your insurance company might send you a letter a couple of weeks after this occurs, mentioning the damage taken place from the accident. However, they might overstate the claims by including recovery vehicle, car hire, or whiplash injuries to others that are completely false and never took place, this is actually their attempt to win more and more money.
